Riskified vs Signifyd for Shopify Merchants

Riskified and Signifyd both approve or decline orders and guarantee the ones they approve. How each one works on Shopify, what the guarantee covers, and what neither one solves.
Riskified and Signifyd sell the same core promise: they review each order, approve or decline it, and pay you back if an order they approved turns into a fraud chargeback. For a Shopify brand, the choice comes down to how each one prices, how it fits your checkout, and which disputes it actually covers.
Facts below come from each company’s Shopify App Store listing and website, checked in October 2026.
Riskified vs Signifyd: what is the difference?
Both give real-time approve or decline decisions with a guarantee on fraud chargebacks for approved orders. Riskified’s Shopify app is free to install with charges billed separately and is set up with its team. Signifyd prices by approved orders and volume, on quote.

When should you choose Riskified?
Choose Riskified if you want a guarantee on fraud chargebacks with hands-on setup, and if your team is comfortable acting on order tags in Shopify.
Riskified says its app tags orders with its decision, such as a declined tag, and that its team configures the app around your checkout flow and payment gateways.
When should you choose Signifyd?
Choose Signifyd if you also want help with returns abuse or non-fraud disputes, which its listing mentions, and if a volume-based quote fits your order count.

What does neither guarantee solve?
A fraud guarantee covers stolen cards. It doesn’t stop a real customer who forgets a renewal and disputes it with their bank, and those disputes still count toward your dispute rate. On Shopify Payments, a high rate can lead to enrollment in the NDRP.
For subscription and membership brands, that second category is the larger one. Ethoca and Verifi alerts warn you before the chargeback is filed, so you can refund instead. Subscribfy’s chargeback prevention matches those alerts to the right Shopify order and intercepts 95% of disputes early, per its product page. Free coverage also exists for some orders; see what Shopify Protect covers.

Frequently asked questions
Do Riskified and Signifyd publish prices?
Not on their Shopify listings. Riskified is free to install with separate charges; Signifyd prices by approved orders and volume.
Do they cover friendly fraud?
Both guarantee fraud chargebacks on approved orders. Signifyd’s listing also mentions non-fraud chargebacks; check your contract for the exact reasons covered.
Can I combine a fraud guarantee with chargeback alerts?
