Shopify B2B Discount Rules: 2026 Setup Guide

B2B on Shopify stopped being Plus-only in April 2026. Here's what native catalogs handle now, and where conditional logic still needs more.

Most guides to Shopify B2B discounts still open with a Plus-only disclaimer and a $2,300/month price tag. That's outdated. As of April 2, 2026, Shopify B2B rolled out to every paid plan, and the rules for wholesale discounting changed with it.

Shopify B2B discount rules are pricing adjustments applied to company accounts through catalogs (percentage or fixed-price overrides per product) and through discount eligibility scoped to B2B markets, and both are now available on Basic, Grow, Advanced, and Plus plans. Plus still unlocks more catalog capacity and finer targeting, but the core wholesale discounting toolkit is no longer gated behind it.

What changed with Shopify B2B in April 2026?

As of April 2, 2026, native Shopify B2B, company profiles, custom pricing catalogs, net payment terms, quantity rules, and volume discounts, became available on every paid Shopify plan instead of Plus exclusively. A 2026 guide to Shopify B2B is direct about the outdated assumption still circulating: most guides online still assume the Plus-only minimum, and they're wrong as of that date. On Basic, Grow, and Advanced, merchants now get up to three custom catalogs with tailored pricing, native quantity rules and volume discounts, net payment terms, vaulted credit cards, and the dedicated B2B Trade theme.

Plus still matters for scale: unlimited catalogs, direct catalog assignment to specific companies rather than only markets, partial payments and deposits, and checkout customization via Shopify Functions. But the basic wholesale discounting capability is now plan-agnostic.

How do catalogs apply B2B pricing?

A catalog adjusts pricing for whichever companies or company locations it's assigned to, either through an overall percentage or fixed-dollar adjustment across every product in the catalog, or through per-product fixed prices you set individually. Shopify's documentation on B2B catalog discounts gives the direct example: a West Coast catalog assigned a 20% overall adjustment means every company on that catalog pays 20% less than the standard product price, automatically, without a separate discount rule.

Catalogs also stack with regular discounts: automatic discounts and discount codes apply as additional discounts on top of whatever price adjustment the catalog already made, which is how a wholesale base price and a time-limited promo can coexist without conflicting.

How do you make a discount available only to B2B customers?

Assign the discount's eligibility to a B2B market instead of All customers or a customer segment, which restricts it to buyers who are logged in and purchasing on behalf of a company location in that market. Shopify's Discounts by Market feature, shipped May 7, 2026, extended this further: any code-based or automatic discount can now be scoped to a specific B2B company location market, a region market, or a retail location market, rather than running globally by default. Shopify's B2B changelog entry confirms the mechanics directly: select Markets in the discount's eligibility section, then choose a B2B company location market to scope it to wholesale buyers only.

This closes a real gap that used to exist: previously, a store selling both DTC and B2B risked a global promo code quietly applying to wholesale accounts (or vice versa) unless it was manually excluded.

What can't native catalogs and market eligibility do?

Catalogs apply a blanket price adjustment per catalog assignment, and market-scoped discounts apply a single rule per eligibility group — neither natively combines company-level targeting with granular product-level conditions like a specific product tag, SKU, or a quantity threshold inside the same rule. Wholesale Helper's breakdown of company profile limits is specific about where native setup runs out of room: customer-specific discount logic based on customer tags, restricted collections, or hidden prices for particular SKUs isn't something company profiles and catalogs handle on their own, especially below Plus where catalog capacity itself is capped at three.

A real example: "10% off, but only for the wholesale tier AND only on products tagged clearance, AND only if the order exceeds 50 units" is three separate conditions that don't collapse into one catalog adjustment or one market-scoped discount.

How does a Functions app add conditional B2B logic?

A Shopify Functions-based discount app combines company/customer targeting with product-level and quantity conditions in a single rule, which catalogs and market eligibility can't do together. Flowly: Discount Functions builds this on its visual canvas: a Condition node combining Customer Tag (`wholesale`), Product Tag (`clearance`), and Line Quantity through AND logic, feeding a Percentage Off action scoped to the Product discount class. The rule syncs directly onto the live Shopify discount object the same way catalogs and market-scoped discounts do, but as one combined condition instead of a blanket per-catalog adjustment.

This complements rather than replaces catalogs: a catalog can still set the wholesale baseline price, while a Functions rule handles conditional promotions layered on top, a clearance push, a volume incentive, a time-limited wholesale campaign, without needing to build a new catalog for every scenario.

FAQ

Is Shopify B2B still Plus-only?

No. As of April 2, 2026, native B2B features, company profiles, catalogs, quantity rules, and volume discounts, are available on Basic, Grow, Advanced, and Plus. Plus still adds unlimited catalogs, direct company-level catalog assignment, and checkout customization.

Can I scope a discount to B2B customers only?

Yes. Assign the discount's eligibility to a B2B company location market instead of All customers, using the Markets option in the discount's eligibility section.

Can I combine a wholesale discount with a promo code?

Yes. Catalog price adjustments and regular discounts (automatic or code-based) stack, since discounts apply as additional reductions on top of whatever catalog price is already in effect.

Why can't I target a specific product tag within my B2B catalog discount?

Catalogs apply an overall or per-product price adjustment, not conditional logic. To combine a product tag, customer tag, and quantity threshold in one rule, a Shopify Functions app like Flowly is needed.

How many catalogs can I run without Shopify Plus?

Up to three active catalogs across your B2B markets on Basic, Grow, and Advanced. Shopify Plus removes this cap entirely.

If your wholesale pricing needs more than a flat catalog adjustment, that's where conditional discount logic picks up. Download Flowly directly from the Shopify App Store and layer product-tag or quantity-based promotions on top of your existing B2B catalogs, or book a call with Subscribfy's team if your wholesale rules span more conditions than a catalog can hold.
